Sophisticated Standards, Timeless Vocabulary!
Course Description
Three beautiful standards that let you play with feeling, not just speed.
Song Pack Volume 4 brings you:
- Round Midnight
- Yesterdays
- It Could Happen To You
… songs that showcase your musicality, harmonic understanding, and emotional depth.
Round Midnight opens up Monk’s mysterious masterpiece. You’ll learn the melody’s unique phrasing, discover the rich chord voicings that capture its dark beauty, and develop an approach to soloing that honors the tune’s haunting character instead of rushing past it.
Yesterdays teaches you the art of playing with space and intention. Through Chet Baker’s approach to this Jerome Kern classic, you’ll explore rubato phrasing, voice-led chord movement, and melodic improvisation that breathes and sings, proving that simplicity and emotion often say more than complexity.
It Could Happen To You reveals Wes Montgomery’s warm, octave-driven style on this uplifting standard. You’ll learn his signature phrasing, chord melody techniques, and how to build solos that flow organically from the harmony beneath them.
Each song includes complete transcriptions broken down phrase by phrase, chord melody arrangements you can perform right away, and focused exercises that transform new ideas into vocabulary you’ll use naturally for years to come.
These are the standards that show your musical maturity. Now you can play them with the soul and sophistication they deserve.
